The Empire State Building

  The Empire State Building opened in 1931.  People went to see it even though tickets cost a dollar because of the Depression.  With the silver spire the  Empire State Building is 102 stories tall.  Today people come to see it by the millons daily! On the 102nd floor there is an enclosed observation deck.  People have said you could see up to 60 miles in any direction.

                      The United Nations

  The United Nations Building has been the home of the world organazation ever since 1952.  There are tours through the building in every language!  Whenever there is a meeting,  the visitors can watch.  Then in the visitors' gallery, people can listen to the meeting in any language.  Tickets to the U.N. Meetings are free,  and there are also tours of the whole building. If you take a tour look for art, a moon rock, a model of Sputnik 1, or an overhead pendulum. Did you know when you enter the building you are in international territory?
