SCOTTISH |
The first Scot's came to Texas as individuals and families, not as large immigrant groups. In the 1880s some Scottish stone cutters were paid to come to Texas to help build the new state capital. They were hired because the original stone cutters went on strike. These Scottish stone cutters cut the granite and finished much of the stone for the building. |
