CZECH |
In 1852 the first group of Czech families came to Texas. Most of them were farmers and settled in Fayette County, Texas. Legend has it that while looking for land to farm, sixteen Czech families turned off a road and their oxcarts got stuck in some thick, rich, black mud. They knew that it would be excellent land for farming and decided to settle there. |
