FOLK LIFE |
| According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary the term "folk life" is defined as the traditions, activities, handicrafts and skills of a particular people or group. While creating pages that show some examples of each of these, we learned that although each culture group is different they share many similar experiences. For example, many different cultures have a form of folk art that involves paper cutting with each group having their own style. Their dances and costumes differ but they all dance to celebrate and express their emotions. As you read about the different folk arts, look for similarities between cultures and compare them to your own life. We were surprised how many parts of our lives came from different cultures. |
