During the Ice Age it was very cold, but plants were able to grow.  Woolly Mammoths  dug with their tusks to get to the plants buried under ice and snow.  They ate willow, fir, and alder leaves, also leaves from bushes.  We know that this is what they ate, because some Woolly Mamoths have been frozen whole.  When scientists looked at what was in their stomachs they found these leaves. One Woolly Mammoth was found frozen with a buttercup in his mouth.

No one really knows how they died, but scientist have some ideas about what might have happen.
1)The climate changed and this might have killed the Mammoths.
         2)Humans may have hunted them.
3)The human population may have drove them from them out of their feeding grounds.
         4) Man could have planted crops where Woolly Mammoths Used to live.
