. Eat-fish, shellfish, crayfish, frogs and some waterbirds  

. 3 to 4 feet long,12 to 30 pounds  

. Have webbed  feet, muscular tail and a cylindrical shape  

. Highly intelligent and curious animals  

. Swim about a quarter of a mile, at up to 6 miles per hour, or drive up  
 to 60 feet  

. Can detect movement through sensitive whiskers on the face which  
 help them locate fish in murky water  

. Hairs of otters are so thick, especially the oiled under fur, that it’s  skin never gets wet
