Authors are an important part of making a book, because they’re the ones who write them. Authors don’t just come up with
an idea, write down their ideas, and then get the book published. They have to write down their ideas for the story, and
then read through their story to check for mistakes or to edit. Then after they edit the story, they type it up on the
computer and then edit for spelling, punctuation, and grammar to make their book make sense.
After the authors edit their story several times, they take it to a publishing company to get it published. But not all books
get published right away, some companies turn down the story because it was too short or they think it won’t be good
enough to be sold in bookstores and other places. When a book is accepted, the company puts it on a special machine to be
printed and on a different machine to have the cover made and bound to the book.
Then, when everything is good and ready to be sold, the new books are shipped to bookstores or sometimes translated
into a different language so kids and adults can read the same book in their own language. Then the authors get paid when
their book is successful and is bought all over the world.
