Summary:
Four sisters and their mother try to survive, while their father goes out to war. He is a doctor and treats soldiers in the battlefield. Even if they are poor and have no food they are thoughtful, and share with those who are less fortunate than they are. All four sisters are different, but have one thing in common: they are kind and thoughtful towards others. Jo is more like a tomboy and loves to do what boys do. Since she is the second oldest, she usually watches over Beth. Meg, who is the oldest, wants to marry and make a life with her husband. Meg takes care of her little sister Amy. Beth is not a strong girl, but loves to play with kittens and dolls. Also, she is very good on the piano. Amy is a little spoiled because she is the youngest, but she is very artistic and draws very good pictures. Read and find out how these four sisters learn to face the hard times and get along!
