Summary:

Mary and Laura are leaving the big woods. They are heading West towards Indian land. Pa promises Laura that she will see a papoose, and Indian baby. She does, and as it passes by, it just stares at her with those big brown baby eyes. Pa and Ma say that it likes her and Laura agrees. In this book, the whole family gets very sick and Mary goes blind. Ma tries to help Pa build their log cabin, but she gets a sprained ankle. It's really funny when Mr. Edwards comes to help. It was a really windy day and Pa and Mr. Edwards were trying to tie canvas down over the roof and the canvas was flying about and Laura thought that her Pa was going to fly up in the air like a bird if he didn't let go!
