The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle
List of Characters and a Description of Each: Charlotte Doyle (a thirteen year old girl who is very proper), Captain Jaggery (who appears to be a gentleman, but isn't), Zachariha (an African who is the cook on the ship), and Mr. HollyBrass (the first mate who was very strong).
Plot: In this story Charlotte Doyle boards the Sea Hawk for a few months. On the way she gets sick and can't get out of bed for four days. She is traveling from England to Rhode Island. When she first boards the ship she meets the cook, Zachariha. He gives her a knife to protect herself. She keeps trying to return it, but he won't let her. Some people aboard the Sea Hawk, including Captain Jaggery, kill Mr. Holly Brass. Charlotte is blamed for it and is found guilty. She later meets up with her family in Rhode Island and for the rest of her life she is happy.
