Mastodons in the Swamp

    Ten million years ago, the swamp was full of sinkholes. Evidently animals got trapped and died  when they were drinking out of the sinkhole. As the sinkhole filled in with water, the bones of the animals stayed together and this allowed paleontologists to find whole skeletons this century. They have found saber tooth tigers, gompotherium, horses, camels and other animals.
