The Civil Rights Movement was a powerful movement that overturned segregation in the South in the 1950s and 1960s. It was a distinctive happening which was symbolized by nonviolent confrontations and fueled by a vast amount of support from inferior people who had never before been politically involved .
From Montgomery to Memphis, the civil rights movements caused numerous changes in American life. It terminated legal apartheid in the American South and forever changed relations between blacks and whites. It enboldened black and other Non- wh ite Americans. It brought life to the movements for women's rights. The victories of the movemnet were won by a great anonymous associations of citizens, black & white, who dared to risk life and limb for freedom's cause and won because of their strength and determination.
