Every year avalanches kill an average 130 people. Those killed are mostly are BC (Back Country) skiers. Being prepared is always important.
One way avalanches are created is by skiers calling out loudly to other people or skiers. Another way is when mining explosions vibrate the snow enough to break it loose and cause an avalanche. A third way avalanches are started is by winds that pick snow up and shove it off the cliffs. Finally, earthquakes shift snow around and crumble it down mountains.
