Food & Drink

The Ancient Egyptians ate lots of food that we eat today. They also ate
some things that we think are a little unpleasant.
Here
is what a menu would look like in Ancient Egypt.

Concerning food:
Everybody ( even children) drank barley beer. Wine was usually reserved
for noblemen and richer folk. Water could be gotten anywhere (duh) and
milk was common, too. For the poorer people, fish was a substitute for
beef, and almost everybody ate fruits and vegetables. Cheese, bread, and
lentils were more common than waterfowl and nuts (especially for the poor.)
Toppings were used to make bread sweeter, and to add flavor.
