Hieroglyphics were the ancient Egyptian's way of writing. They would use symbols standing for letters and words. Some hieroglyphs look like what it could be or could be doing. An example is a foot could mean foot, feet, walking, jogging, or running.
        We learned to translate hieroglyphics from the Rosetta Stone. It was a stone with normal hieroglyphics, demotic hieroglyphics, and Greek writing. Napoleon found it around 1799. The British later took it from France and studied it. They couldn't understand the hieroglyphics but could read Greek. They later found out it was the same thing in written in each type of writting.
