Social Habits

Except for a strong bond with their mothers, moose are otherwise solitary animals. But while they stay alone, moose tend to follow each other’s migratory habits. Through mating season, moose stay together looking for a mate. Sometimes during cold winters, they will move in small herds so that they can all pack down the snow, allowing them to move around. Moose are not very aggressive animals but bulls do fight one another to compete for a mate. They are hardly ever aggressive toward humans, but female moose can get very protective with their young. When surprised at close range, moose either attack or run. In general, moose are very predictable.
