Habitat Usually moose live in forested areas near arctic regions. They have a preference to live near water and have adapted well to extreme winter conditions. They also like to be in wet swampy areas or in aspen or willow thickets. One of the few times that moose are seen in groups is when they gather near streams and lakes to feed on aquatic plants.
