Mrs. Wass went to Ireland. We asked her what she thinks about traveling with the euro. She thought it was easy because she's an American and she hadn't used the euro before. We also asked her if she thought the Irish people were comfortable with their new currency. She said to us that the Irish people thought it was a good new currency and it was okay. When she was standing in line with some older Irish ladies, they didn't understand the euro very well, but the shopkeeper was very friendly and helpful to them. Mrs. Wass was in a group of 18 Americans and most people in her group found it easy to use the euro, especially the younger people. Mrs. Edwards, who was also part of the group, said that she thinks the euro will increase tourism and spending by tourists because it's so much easier to carry and use the new money. Ms. Ignacio is our dual language teacher from Spain. We asked her how she felt about the change because she has been using a different currency almost her whole life and now she's using euros. She said, "It's like being in a foreign country because you have to convert to see how much money you're spending. It's very easy to travel now because you don't need to change money as often." We asked Mrs. Wieden if using the euro made traveling easier and if people in Italy looked comfortable using the euro. She said it was easier for Americans because of the exchange rate. She also said prices were listed in lira (the price of the currency before the euro) and the euro price.
