Antelope in Zimbabwe


Waterbuck:  A large, heavy antelope.  It lives on the banks of rivers.  Also, it is a very good swimmer.  It has other names such as photomok, water antelope, and waterbok.
Impala:  This antelope has rough curved horns.  It can do amazingly large leaps.  The impala has a silky, shiny coat. 
Kudu:  There are two different kinds of kudu.  The great kudu and the common kudu.  The males are the only one with horns, which are spiraled.  Their coats can be from a reddish to a grayish brown. 
Sable:  This kind of antelope is very large.  Both sexes have long, sharp horns.  The males are black.  The females are a brown.
Roan:  The roan is also large with  large horns.  Roans are grazers.  They live in the savanna, and have a life span of up to eighteen years.
Eland:  This antelope is the largest in the Victoria Falls area. It has a twisted horn. It can stand up to 2.5 meters.
Steenbok- The steenboks are small antelope. They live in plains and dry areas. It also has big eyes and ears. They are seen in small herds.
Klipspringer:  They live in thick, dense forests. They are shy animals.  Klipspringers have little horns and big ears. 
Sharpe's Gyrsbok:  Grysbok are solitary antelope. They are small with pointed horns.  They eat leaves.
