Telescopes have taught us much about space. Sure, computers help analyze the pictures, but without telescopes there wouldn’t be anything to analyze. Without telescopes we wouldn’t know about many of the planets, black holes, or supernovas. Telescopes have been around since 1608, and every day we learn something new about space. It’s all thanks to telescopes. In this section we talk about many different types of telescopes. One of them is the Hubble Telescope. It orbits the earth and has taken many interesting pictures. The Hubble Telescope is a type of reflecting telescope. The reflecting telescope was the second type of telescope made. The first type of telescope was the refracting telescope. Both types of telescopes use light to "see." However, there is one type of telescope that uses radio waves. It’s called a radio telescope. |
