Spacecraft

Spacecraft are what fulfilled the dreams of many people around the world. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and they have many uses. They have been used to send animals into space and even to the moon! How do people survive in space? By eating disgusting tubes of pasty space food of course! Now that we have put a spotlight on space, we are giving you the opportunity to learn all about the amazing spacecraft that brought all of the astronauts and scientist to where we are today.

Rockets

From the time they were invented, to where they are today, rockets have been used in many different ways. They can be used in military missiles, fireworks, and most importantly, to send things into space. Without rockets, who knows where space exploration would be.

Apollo 11

To be the first person to step on the moon was a great honor for Neil Armstrong. He was the co-pilot of the Apollo 11’s lunar module. The Apollo 11 mission was the first to land on anything in our universe other than the Earth, and became greatly known for this. This mission was a huge leap in exploring space.

The Challenger Disaster

On the morning of January 28, 1986 at 11:39 A.M. Eastern Time, the Challenger shuttle exploded. The enormous explosion killed all seven crewmembers, including schoolteacher, Christa McAuliffe. Thousands of students and adults across the U.S. watched in horror as the shuttle exploded turning an exciting day into a horrible one. In fact, that day would become an important part of history. One thing learned that fateful day was that danger does still exist in space exploration. Read on and find out what did go wrong, and who were those seven crewmembers that tragically died?

International Space Station

The International Space Station is pretty amazing. Robots are going to be used to put some of it together in space, and when it is finished, it will be so large that you will be able to see it from Earth without a telescope.

Space Food

John Glenn ate stuff that looks like toothpaste in 1962. Now people in space have 72 choices of food. They also get knives, forks, spoons, and much more. Many people thought that the food John Glenn ate wouldn’t go down his throat.
