In the beginning there was only soft dirt and people needed proper food. They lived on nuts and leaves and ate older roots for water. So Raven went down calling, "Ga, ga, ga." The people gathered and they called him Raven-Who-Sets-Things-Right. He gave them fish by luring them to the shore.

Now they have fish to eat but they were thirstier than ever. So they called for Raven-Who-Sets-Things-Right. Raven knew that the only fresh water was guarded by Ganook. So he went to Ganook's house and told him a long dull story until he fell asleep. Raven drank all the water his beak can carry. Then Ganook woke up and chased him in the house but Raven got away with the water through the smoke hole. As he tried to fly in a straight line but instead he flew in crooked lines as water spilled out of his mouth and that's why Raven is black and why rivers are crooked.
