Miller |
|
My name is Peregrine and my job is to be a miller. I use millstones, water, air and grindstones to grind wheat, corn, grain, and rye into flour. I pour grain and rye into the mill and grind it into flour. Water turns the gears. As the gears turn, it grinds the grain, making it into flour.
There are lots of things I like about my job, but there are a few things I don't like. My favorite thing to do is to watch the water flow on the wheel because it makes me feel peaceful and happy. I enjoy pouring the grain into the mill because in the end I have made flour. It is hard work carrying the heavy bags of flour to people. Trying to fix the mill when it is broken is often difficult because I have to find out what is wrong with it before it can be repaired.
The baker depends on me for flour so he can make his bread. The farmer depends on me to grind his grain into flour. In return I get a share of the flour. The carpenter helps me repair the mill when I can't repair it myself. Many people depend on me for flour to make their food.
