Basket Weaver |
|
My name is Amanda. I earn my living by being a basket maker. I’m able to live quite well. With pieces of willow trees I can create baskets. I also use a hammer, mallet, knife and a hatchet. Some of the different kinds of baskets I make are coiled, twined, wrapped and plaited. I sit on a bench in my shop and weave different patterns until I have made a basket. My baskets come in several sizes.
What I detest about my job is that I could get a sliver. Another reason I detest my job is using the hatchet because it makes me nervous. I’m afraid I might get cut with the blade. I enjoy my work because I get to make all the different kinds of baskets, not just one kind because that would get boring
In order for me to do my job I depend on the blacksmith so that I can get my tools. I get my wood from the sawmill. The woodcutter will give me willow and ash branches. When I am finished designing my baskets, shoppers buy or trade for my useful baskets.
