ABOUT KATIE

An honor student and active member of the 4H Club, Katie is a 14-year-old ninth grader at WWHS.  She loves to write poetry and to talk on the phone for HOURS ON END. In the spring and summer months, she also enjoys playing recreational softball, which she has played for 10 years, and is next year going to try out for the school team.  An avid Internet fanatic, Katie is excited to be participating in this scholarship contest for ThinkQuest 2002.  Katie lives in Washington, Georgia with her parents and her brother for basically her entire life, only living in a different city for 6 months then returning to her hometown.  Katie would like to thank Gary (whom she loves a lot), her parents (whom she loves a little), God (well, that's pretty obvious), Mrs. McGaughey, Ms. Hughey, and Mr. Jones for always supporting her wild ideas and for putting up with her during the long odyssey which she calls life.

ABOUT ALEXIS

Also an honor student and WWHS ninth grader, Alexis loves to participate in local musical theatre productions and to make the monthly trek to Atlanta with her parents and friends.  A fairly new town resident, Alexis is still settling into Washington, Georgia and making new friends.  Alexis love to write poetry and songs so that she doesn't "bottle up (her) emotions and explode all over Mr. Jones.  He would be cleaning up 'teen spirit' for weeks."  Also an Internet fanatic, she loves to surf the web for information on her favorite movie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and check email.  Alexis lives with her parents, two brothers, and her sister in their secluded (re: cows for neighbors) home.  Alexis would like to thank God, her parents, her brother Ryan, her sister Hayley, Mr. Jones, and Mrs. Abbey for being so supportive of her.
