Exercising in the water is a fun way to exercise. It does not even seem like as much work when you are in the water. It benefits for all people young and old, men and women. To exercise in the water you do not even have to get your head wet, you can exercise by staying above water the whole time. The exercises listed below are good for beginners. Next time you are in a pool try some of these exercises, but first follow these few tips.
ROUND THE CLOCK
First stand with your legs shoulder width apart and your arms extended outward. Make five arm circles 12 to 15 inches across. Circle 4 times, 4 to 6 inches across. Repeat in opposite direction, palms up. Repeat for 60 seconds
BEND AND STRETCH
Stand straight up and put your legs shoulder width apart. Stretch your arms high over your head, fingers laced. Bend comfortably to the left (no twisting) for ten seconds. Repeat on the right side. repeat for 60 seconds.
Stand in a lunge position with your arms extended and leaning forward onto the pool wall. Move hips forward until your left calf muscle begins to stretch. Hold for 10 seconds. Alternate legs for 60 seconds.
Stand at one of the pools edges. Hold on to the edge with your right hand. Gently pull on your right heel to your bottom with your left hand. Hold 10 seconds . Alternate for 60 seconds.
