Kenzo Tange

Kenzo Tange was born 1913 in Imabari, Shikoku Island, Japan. In 1935, he became a student at the Tokyo University Architecture Department. Kenzo Tange became an assistant professor at Tokyo University in 1946. Fumihiko Maki, Kohi Kamiya, Arata Isozaki, Kisho Kurokawa, Taneo Oki were his students. In 1987, at age 74, Kenzo Tange won the Pritzker architecture prize.

Tange was inspired by Le Corbusier. His major projects included the reconstruction of Hiroshima, Peace Park and Centre.

Throughout his career, Kenzo Tange was a guest professor at MIT, lectured at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, WU, IIT, the University of California at Berkeley and Alabama and Toronto Universities.
