Monitor

All computers are connected to some sort of device for visual display. These surfaces are called monitors. They usually range anywhere from 12 inches to up to 21 inches diagonal. The monitor displays all sorts of video systems, which is connected to your video card of your computer - connected by some sort of interface. The video card then sends signals which is received by your monitor and displays what it is told.

Pixels

A screen is made of tiny dots called pixels which are arranged horrizontally (left to right) across the screen. They are just basic elements in the screen imaging. The most common pixel resolutions are : 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024. The color depths of pixels in your system are measured in 8,16, or 32 bits.

USB

FireWire is commonly found in computers designed specifically for high-end multimedia editing. The most common and productive firewire is the IEEE-1394.
