Here are some of the steps that we followed to get the single image below:

1. Kris scanned the engraving from a book with a copyright in the 1800s. (That copyright date makes the book in the public domain.)

2. Then, Kris modified the images using grayscale, brightness/contrast, levels, duotone, and indexed color to make it more appealing to the eye.

3. After saving the image as a gif, Todd was able to place it on the appropriate page. 


You don't need a fancy computer to be able to do all this work. You can use a simple PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) with a keyboard to type.

Other tools we used include i-Movie, Sony digital camera, Photoshop, scanner, Netscape composer, and creativity.
