Power lifting is one of several sports that is currently being offered by Special Olympics
Programs around the world. Special Olympics power lifting includes three basic lifts: the
squat, the bench press, and the dead lift. Training for this sport improves an athlete's
overall physical fitness while giving him or her the experience of being on a team. There
are 4,940 athletes from 63 Programs from around the world who are discovering their
abilities in power lifting.
 

WORLD GAMES HISTORY
The 1999 World Games had 202 competitors from more than 100
countries participating in the squat, bench press, dead lift and combination
feats.
