CIVIL RIGHT MARTYRS

When the events of Bloody Sunday took place on March 7, 1965, Dr. King made a nationwide call for people of all races and faith to come to Selma, Alabama.

The months of February thru April were not pleasant ones due to the death of those who had risked their lives to come to Selma. Because of their dedication to mankind their lives were put in jeopardy for helping the Negro people. Viola, Jonathan, and Rev. Reeb were all white and from up north. Each of them were brutally killed while working for the civil rights of the Negro people.
