Amendment A formal change made according to official procedures.
Bailed Money paid to release someone from jail.
Civil Rights The rights of every citizen of a country including the right to vote and the right to equal protection under the law.
Conspiring To agree together neatly to do something.
Discriminate To note or observe a difference in favor or against a person or thing.
Grand Jury A jury of 12 to 23 people designated to make a decision about bringing a case to trial.
Indicted To be charge with a crime.
Infirmary A place for the care of the sick or injured serving as a hospital.
Ku Klux Klan A racist group that thrived on ignorance and fear.
Lobby To solicit or try to influence the vote- of-members of a legislative body.
Manslaughter The killing of a human being by another.
Marchers People who walk to protest.
Montgomery

The capital of Alabama.

NAACP National Association for the Advancement of colored people.
Negro A member of the people traditionally classified as the Negro race.
Nonviolent Not violent.
Picket To march against government policies or actions.
Posse A group of people gathered by a sheriff to help capture a criminal.
Protest An objection or complaint.
Racism Thought words , or action based on the belief that one human race is better or worse than another race, racial prejudice.
Registration An official list or record or a book.
Segregation The practice of setting one racial group apart from another: There are laws against the segregation of black children and white children in the public schools.
Seminary A school providing education in theology to prepare students for the ministry.
Troopers A police officer on a horseback.
Verdict The final decision from a jury.
