Spitball is also called a shine ball, mud ball, and emery ball.
A 'striker' or (pitcher) tossed the ball to a 'feeder' or (hitter). A runner was out if a batted ball was caught or if he was hit by a ball thrown at him when running from base to base.
Pitchers were to throw the ball wnder handed without bending the wrist or the elbow.
Represents the game used a "dead" or almost softball to play its game. The game ball was usually used fo the entire game.
