Poisonous Spiders

 Arachne was boastful of her weaving skills and challenged Athene to a contest to determine who was the most accomplished of the two. The contest began. When they finished, Arachne looked at her work and knew that it was exceedingly fine, but when she looked at the goddess' work she knew that she had been beaten. Devistated by losing, Arachne tried to hang herself. Athene found out and wasn't satisfied by mere death of her rival. she decided to condemn her to an eternity of spinning and weaving; arachne was turned into a spider!
