My Day at the Park

Once upon a time, I took a trip to the Red Forest National Park. There, we saw a bear, some birds, and a cHiPmUnK. It was very cool. I had an awesome time there. . .

What's wrong here?
1. Use color only when it is appropriate in order to make things stand out. Do not make informational writing a form of artistic expression.
2. Do not overuse text-formatting options; for the most part, use bold, italic, and underline separately.
3. Capitalization, color, and fonts should be used consistently in the right way. Be aware that ALL-CAPITALS, big, bold fonts, bright colors, and other font properties can be considered "rude" or "obnoxious."
4. Stick with one font. If needed, use one other font to signify a technical word, quotation, or block of code. Also, use fonts that will look the same on all computers; stick with ones you know are found on just about all models and operating systems, like Arial and Times New Roman.
5. Be careful not to use text that blends with its background. This includes yellow, green, and other colors on white.

Corrected paragraph:

My Day at the Park

Once upon a time, I took a trip to the Red Forest National Park. There, we saw a bear, some birds, and a chipmunk. It was very cool. I had an awesome time there. . .

Hint: Keep it readable
Beautiful fonts and bright colors will not mean anything unless they are readable. Remember the main use of text: to be read.
