Demeter
Demeter was the goddess of all growing things. She was the sister of Zeus and the mother of Persephone. She had a very gentle character and is often associated with wheat. Many festivals were held in her honor. These festivals were held twice a year.
Apollo
Apollo was the son of Zeus and Leto. He was born in Delos. Everyone thought of him as an ideal young man. He had his cruel side too. Before he died he killed the Queen of Thebes who had boasted that she was superior to Leto, his mother. Apollo is the God of the Sun.
Hades
Hades was the Lord of the Underworld and ruled the kingdom of Tartarus. Hades and Zeus were brothers. Hades wife was Persephone. People who died were taken to Tartarus. Everyone hated Hades. His wife even hated him because they had no children.
Hercules
Hercules was born in Thebes. Although many people think Hera was his mother, his real parents were Zeus and Princess Alcmene. Hera hated Hercules and tormented him through his whole life. She even tried to kill him when he was a baby. She sent two serpents. They killed his twin before Hercules strangled them. Hercules married Hebe. Since he was a demi - god, he became a god when he died.
