Besides having lives taken and the war on
terrorism against the Taliban, the September 11
attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon hurt the stock market. One week after the attacks, the Dow Jones Industrial had lost nearly 700 points by 4:00 P.M.
Although it is more than four months after the
attacks, the stock market is still recovering. Being
a Wachovia shareholder, I have seen a few drops. On September 17, Wachovia was at around 36 dollars per share. It began losing dollars evey day, and closed at 26 dollars per share at one point. Currently, Wachovia's stock is at around 34 dollars per share.
On September 17, The stock market re-opened.
Most people sold their stock while they could,
before the stock fell more. It was a wise decision, since stock lost dollars every day. |
