HAWKS
Sharp-shinned Hawk
The sharp-shinned hawk is a small type of hawk that has
short broad wings with a long tail. It hunts small birds that
eat seeds and bugs. Along woodland edges and in thickets. This
hawk usually nests in conifers.
Northern Harrier Hawk
The Northern Harrier Hawk also known as the
Marsh Hawk glides low over ground. With its long, rounded wings allowing
it to fly very slowly as it looks for prey. Male Northern Harrier Hawks are a
pale color. The female hawk of this species has brown
streaks in
its feathers. Both males and females of this species have a
dipped ink color at the tip of its wing.
Northern Goshawk
This Hawk is a large, robust hawk with a long tail, and
rounded
wings. It has a blackish color. Also it has a white strip over its eye.
It is like an immature Cooper's Hawk, but larger. Also it doesn't
have the strip over its eye.
