Farming
The earliest industry in Pearl River was farming.
Farming was a good business. Some of the crops they grew, was mostly
corn, rye, wheat, and buckwheat. The
farmers first made their business by selling their naturally grown crops to
their neighbors. Then they made their business when the railroad came in 1870.
They made their business by selling their crops to the New York City
Market. Then business for them was even better than ever.
Not only was farming the earliest known industry, but it was also one of
the largest.
