Physical Evidence

One way to looking into history is to visit a cemetary.  One of the largest active burial grounds is the Pearl River Cemetery. The Pearl River         Cemetery was once called the Rockland Cemetery. It is located on West John Street just behind Franklin Avenue School. The Middletown Baptist Church founded it in1853. In later years the church moved to Nanuet. The cemetery then ended up in the hands of some church trustees. The Middletown cemetery was changed to the Pearl River cemetery in the 19th century. The Pearl River cemetery is a long lasting reliable cemetery.
