Name
Description
Meg- is 13 and the odd one at school. She
doesn’t really think she’s special, but in the end she finds out how her
faults are also her gifts.
Charles Wallace-Charles has many special gifts, like reading peoples
minds, but he becomes too confident, even after Mrs. Who and becomes controlled
by IT.
Calvin-
is the best athlete at school and really popular. He and Meg fall in love and
eventually get married. His gift is the gift of communication and almost
succeeds in saving Charles Wallace.
Mrs.
Whatsit-
Mrs. Whatsit used to be a star, but she was killed battling the Black Thing. She
can change how she looks into anything and is very kind and caring. She first
appears to the children as an old tramp.
Mrs. Which
-Mrs. Which doesn’t speak English very well, and she likes to recite famous
quotes in different languages. She gives Meg her glasses as a gift.
Mrs.
Who- Mrs. Who is the
oldest of the trio. She has a hard time materializing and talks very slowly. She
is very strict but cares about the children. She is forgetful and once landed
the children on a two-dimensional planet.
Dr. Murry -Dr. Murry is the children’s father and was doing an
experiment with time travel for the government when he was captured by IT.
The children were sent to find him, and succeed. He is not a very good
teaser and winds up nearly killing Meg by mistake.
Dr. Murry -Dr. Murry is the children’s mother. She always is strong for
them and writes to her husband every night. Most people think she is very
beautiful, (including her children) but still make comments about her husbands
disappearance.
IT- is a gigantic brain that can take control of people through the man
with the red eyes. He can see what they see and hear what they hear. He controls
the planet Camazotz where everything is perfect and in order. IT
is also called the Happiest Sadist.
Dennys and Sandy- Meg and Charles Wallace’s brothers who are really popular at school and excellent athlete.
