My name is Venerable Bede. I am an English Benedictine monk.
I am here to tell about the life of a medieval monk. A monk
is the main person of the church in the medieval times.
Monks are men who devote their time, energy, and most of
their money to keep the church and its grounds in order.
When they were not doing that they were usually either
studying the Bible, praying, or working. We monks had a
regular schedule of going to the church eight times a day.
The first time on the schedule was 2 o’clock in the morning
and the last time was at 8 o’clock at night.
Most of the monks were very well educated. They would
usually go through a lot of school while they are young so
they could become a monk.
Most of the time, monks wore a long brown or black robe.
