Book Review
Charlotte’s Web By E.B White and Garth Williams
You might have heard of Charlotte’s Web, but do you know that it teaches a lesson about friendship? Charlotte is a spider, who becomes friends with a pig, Wilbur. Along with the friendship, the book comes with a lesson many people don’t know. It doesn’t matter what you are, how big you are, how smart and popular you are or how pretty you are. Nothing matters on the outside. It’s the inside that counts. Pigs are much bigger than spiders, and spiders aren’t usually friends with pigs. Its weird, but that proves that anyone or anything can be a friend.
Sometime
after Charlotte and Wilbur become friends, tragic strikes. Wilbur’s very life
is in danger. Now, Charlotte’s friendship is in danger. At the farm where she
lives, she will help Wilbur live. In her web, she writes, “some pig” to
throw suspicion onto Wilbur, to make the farm owners say and think, “Oh wow,
this pig is magnificent! I don’t want to kill him!!!!!!! He’s going to be alive, forever.” His friendship is
stronger! But Charlotte is growing old, and she dies. Will Wilbur’s friendship
survive without Charlotte?
