How To Make A Friend

Does your youngster between ages 4-8 need a friend? Here are some tips on how to help your child make some.

·       Make sure your child introduces them selves. For example “Hi my name is………… What is your name.”

·       Set up play dates for your child with other children from their school.

                   ·       Encourage your child to share things with other children, for example if your child has a blue crayon and another child has a black one make sure that your child shares the blue crayon with the other child if he or she does not like the black crayon.

·       Don’t push your child to be friends with people they don’t like.

                               ·       Try to help your child to say nice things about other children. Such as saying “ Nice hair ” or “ I like your outfit.” Complements often lead to friendships.

·       Make sure your child is nice to people and does not get into fights. If he or she does, make sure he or she apologizes so the friendship is not ruined.

·       Also if your child brags make sure to tell he or she that bragging is not very nice and that other people don’t like it. Some people loose friendships over brags.

·       Make sure that your child has the same interests in their friend they are trying to make. Like trying to be interested in the same sports, games, shows, and other things. They really shouldn’t be interested in the same toys because they will probably fight over the toy.

If you follow these tips your child will probably make new, great and long lasting friends!
