1) Three friends were sorting and trading their pogs here is what happened, Dave gave Charlotte half of his pogs. Charlotte gave Johnnie half of the pogs she received from Dave. Johnnie kept 8 of those pogs and gave the remaining 10 to Dana. How many pogs did Dave give Charlotte?

 

2) Kim, Raelene, Jim and Rick finished first, second, third and fourth in a motorbike race. If their numbers were 5, 17, 1 and 7, use the following clues to find out who had what number and what order they finished in.

·         17 said she would have placed higher if her bike had not stalled at the start.

·         Rick finished before 7 but after Raelene.

·         1's father said he was very proud of his daughter's finish.

·         Kim finished after 5.

·         Jim wasn't third.

 

  3) Seven friends in school found out that their mean score was 84 for the first math test. On the next test, each student in the group scored 5 points higher than on their first test.

 What is their mean score for the two tests?

 

4) Two friends named Mary and Jason were making propellers for their wooden helicopters. Mary put a number on her propeller and noticed that when she turned the propeller she had the same number.

Mary’s friend Jason was trying to think of a number that he could put on his that had the same rotational symmetry (looks the same turned upside down). What is the next larger number that has this property?

5) Six friends named Brad, Cloe, Davey, Haley, Lee, and Sheena are making cool go-carts for a contest. Unlike most carts, these carts don't all have 4 wheels. Some have as few as 3, while others have as many as 6. The kids have used 25 wheels in all.

How many wheels are on each person's cart?  

 6) Jill’s friends gave her 3 red candies, 2 blue candies and 2 yellow candies. Use several ratios to describe the candies Jill’s friend gave her.
