TRAIL OF TEARS
In the winter time in 1838-1839 the Cherokee (and other moved tribes) were forced to move from their homeland in Georgia.  The journey was horrible  because it was cold and rainy.  They were forced to move over 1,000 miles through Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri , and Arkansas.  Could you ever dream of walking that far?   It went on for almost a hole year! They did not get enough food so they suffered from hunger and diseases.  If you did not have enough strength to walk you were left behind in the cold to die.  There were about 4,000 Indians that died on this trail.  That is how the Trail of Tears got its name.
