Education
Right now you probably won't see many children with Down's Syndrome in a public school. You may ask, why? The answer is because many people in the world are prejudiced. Many parents call schools in concern because their child is afraid of a kid that looks a little different.
Now we are trying to get people to understand that it is better for some kids with disabilities to go to a public school, because it helps them learn. Sometimes if kids with disabilities are kept in a special class it stops them from learning as much as they really should. Putting a disabled kid in a public school could also help the other kids learn about disabilities. It is a known fact that kids learn by modeling their peers. Most of the time if a disabled child is put in a public school, they usually have an extra teacher aide in the classroom. This a good idea because that teacher usually helps the other kids as well. Sometimes when a disabled child is about 2-3 years old, they will start their education, because the earlier the better.
Hopefully this page can change people's ideas about having disabled kids in a public school.
