A.    No, there are many different types of the disease of being blind or visually impaired. Most blind/visually impaired people do have some amount of sight that is available to them. The amount of sight that a visually impaired person or blind person has, mainly depends on the cause for the lack of sight.

A.    There are many different diseases and conditions that cause blindness such as Glaucoma, Age Related Macular Degeneration, Inherited or Congenital Blindness, and Diabetic Retinopathy. 

Q.    About how many people in the United States are blind or visually impaired?

A.    About 750,000 people in the United States are currently blind. 

Q.    How does the government help people with blindness or visually impaired people?

A.    The government offers many benefits to people who are visually impaired or blind such as Social Security Insurance, Supplement security Income, Rehabilitation,  Scholarships, and Employment. 

Q.      How do you prevent blindness?

A.    For most causes of blindness taking proper medication, eating right, getting enough exercise, and going for regular checkups.
