Children & Kisang wear brightly colored costumes, often red & yellow. Young women favors are pink,blue,& aquamarine. Old women prefer white.Color in Korea is very important. Men in traditional dress wear wide trousers bound at the waist with colored bands & short loose jackets that are fastened with a band tied in a bow. On formal occasions men may wear a long flowing coat called a turumaji. Older Korean men wear tall black hats made of horse hair & silk, which today represents age & dignity. Traditional dress for Korean women consists of a long pleated skirt, a tight inner jacket,& a short bolero with long sleeves. |
