THE TEAM

We offered our surveys to all fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students in our school [approximately 165 students].  There was one survey aimed at kids who have flown before and one for those who haven't.

HAVE NOT FLOWN BEFORE

We learned that if these kids were to fly, they would want to go to Korea, Florida, Hawaii, Washington, D.C., California, Europe, France and Italy.  The survey also showed:

Most had been to an airport before.

Most had not had an airport or airplane tour.

Most think they would like to travel by plane.

A few feared throwing up but only one was afraid to fly.

HAVE FLOWN BEFORE

Before they had taken a trip, half of the kids had been afraid.  They feared crashing, becoming unconscious, heights, and falling out.  Some of the kids took their trips after the 9/11/01 disaster.  They shared different things that happened at the airport.  Jennifer said she had to go to the airport two hours before her flight and she had to take off her shoes to have them checked.  Spanky said that police officers told them to empty their pockets.   The survey also showed:

Most kids took their flights before the 9/11/01 disaster.

The number one coolest thing about airports or airplanes was looking outside while the plane was flying.

The next best things were the food areas in the airport and the plane food.
